Controlling the net

Multishuttle exercises should be used when practising netplay. It takes a lot of time to master the net and get the touch and feel so that you can play thight thumbling netshots. Using multishuttle ables you to concentrate on playing the shot hundreds of times on relatively short time and you will gradually improve your netskills.

Exercise 1
The worket stands quite close to the forehand corner at the net, so that he/she can get to the top of the net only by making on step/short lunge. In the beginning we must make sure that we practice the technique of the shot and concentrate fully on this, we can add more footwork/movement later. The feeder throws shuttles just over the net and the worket playes netshots. You can esaily do 50-100 netshots before you change over. Do the same on the backhandside.

Exercise 2
This time the worker starts on the middle of the court close to the centre. The feeder stands in the middle on the other side of the net and throws shuttles over the net. Start with every second forehand and backhand. The worker moves from the centre and plays a tight netshot, returns to the centre and is ready for the same on the other side.

Try out these two basic exercsises and return shortly to get more multishuttle- exercises for practising netplay.

Good luck!
