Footwork – tips on basic work

Footwork is important because it
helps us get in the right position to perform good strokes. As well as being in
the right position it is vital to be in balance. Here is a tip on how to put
variation into footwork exercises and make sure that the players also practice
being in balance when moving into the different corners.

TIP

Instead of moving around and hitting from the corners you can place
shuttles that the players shall pick up from one corner and then put down in
another. The shuttles are not to be thrown but placed standing on the feathers.
By doing this the player need to be in balance when stepping into the
corner.
